Posts have been slow for the past few days here as I was putting in lots of hours getting SSDutch ready for the Speedfixx Jeep Show and Cruise this past weekend. The event also featured a cruise with some two tracking, so SSDutch got some Michigan mud on it to replace all the TX mud I had just cleaned off… More SpeedFixx pictures are on my Flickr account.
In the pic above you can see SSDutch two parking spaces over from what I consider to be the CJ6 redeux, otherwise known as the Wrangler Unlimited.
Regardless of what the current (uninformed) automotive media have to say, the new Unlimited really has much more to share with the CJ6 than the Scrambler.
The Scrambler was marketed more as a Jeep mini-truck, rather than a Jeep “Universal” with more interior room. The CJ6 was marketed almost identically to the Unlimited, simply a longer wheelbase version of the Jeep universal.
Anyway, getting SSDutch ready for the event involved wrapping up the axle swap, bleeding the brakes, installing the fender flares, painting and installing the diamond plate rear corners, re-painting the rollcage, setting the toe-in, a complete powerwash, and going through the undercarriage tightening every bolt in sight.
I’ll be adding some detailed pics of some of those things later, in the meantime here’s the driveway shot, just back from the show:
Here’s an additional pic - taken by Mike Oakes - while playing on the SpeedFixx obsctacle course:
Mike also shot a video clip of me playing with the crawl ratio on SSDutch:

SSDutch looks good, especially with that trailer in tow. Sounds like a fun weekend. I loved some of those pictures at Flickr, espeically the rear engine CJ with the seat in the eengine bay. Who has to sit up there?

The trailer actually looked better behind the CJ5 that it matched..
Dunno yet what the final color scheme for the CJ6 will be, the Dutch bet is red so I don’t also have to repaint the trailer...
I think that seat in the engine bay was just for fun, although there were seat belts up there. I didn’t see anyone sitting there while he was playing around with it.
