For an Onboard air setup, I installed the Quick Air 2 onboard air compressor (previously installed in my CJ5) and got crafty with access to the power switch and air outlet.
Note - I’ve never seen this done on a Jeep, so until I hear of anyone else doing it I’m claiming stake to this modification and calling it the “Boyink Door”....
When I was looking for a spot to mount the compressor, the best spot ended up being on top of the passenger side fender, which placed it right by the factory snorkel cutout. Immediately I started scheming on how to use the cutout for access.
Once I broke the spot welds on the cutout, it was just a matter of hinging the panel by a bolt at one end. A bolt and washer supports the other end when closed. A keyed barrel style latch holds the panel shut.
The power switch and air outlet are mounted to a piece of angle iron just inside the panel.
I’ll be able to air up with the hood closed - which blocks some of the noise from the compressor.
Here’s the under-hood view. Mounting is pretty straightforward. Note that I run a manifold and adjustable bleeder valve off the pump. This setup allows using standard air hoses, rather than the more unique “blow all the time” versions Quick Air recommends.
I also plumbed a second air outlet the back of the Jeep, for no other reason than that I had a 3rd outlet on the compressor manifold, and had room for it on the utility panel I built to fill the gap in the body previously occupied by the rear drawbar supports.
I’m guessing the rear outet will come in handy in tight situations, and it’ll let me carry a much shorter hose to reach all my tires.

Mike, tha is cool. I had thought of running a snorkle for the air intake, but the door looks great…
