Nothing new to report on SSDutch, so I thought I would share some old pictures I just ran across.  The one of Dutch is from my Junior year in High School, so 1984.  It wouldn’t be mine for another two years yet.

The old family dune buggy - home built by my dad.  All three of us kids are in the backseat.  This was taken at Silver Lake, I’d guess in the mid-1970’s.

My first car - a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger.  It had a slant 6.  I bought the car when I was 15 for $300 as it had a motor with a bearing going out.  Sure enough, the day I turned 16 I put the car on the road and blew up the motor that night.  First car repair as a 16 year old - swap a junkyard engine in. I drove it that way for a few months until getting rear-ended by my best friend in a 80’s Scout.

Which led to my second car, this time a ‘71 version with air shocks and a 318 V8.  This one I smucked up - I was passing a car on a backroad and another car didn’t see me.  I spun it 180 and hit his rear end with my drivers door.  I can remember the guy crying “my car...my beautiful car”..as I recall it was a baby blue Cutlass with white interior.
