One great thing about keeping a blog is that you can look back and see what you were doing when.  One terrible thing about a blog is you can see so clearly just how long some projects take.  Looking back on this blog I realized that it’s been four years since parting out my ‘66 CJ5 and starting on a CJ6.  Four. Years.  You’d think with that kind of time I’d have a showpiece Jeep with everything done - but alas, that’s not the case.  I still tons to do! But then again - when I list out everything that I’ve done to the Jeep and also factor in some major house projects, running a business, and with a couple of kids running around, it’s no so bad.  For a then and now look, and a quick list of everything that’s been done to the Jeep…

Here’s how the Jeep came to us in August of 2004 - purchased off eBay and shipped up:

So - what’s been done between then and now?

• Installed new rear bumper
• Cut-off bumper/grille guard and replaced with repop front bumper
• Repaired frame cracks
• Set the Jeep up for being flat-towed
• Swapped axles
• Moved gas tank to rear
• Rear diamond plate corners
• Had the rollcage & TJ seatbelts installed
• Swapped the early windshield for an intermediate-era version
• Strip/repair/repaint interior
• New dash/gauges
• All new wiring
• Installed a Heater
• Installed Onboard Air
• Install Onboard Water
• Steering brace
• Changed fender flares
• Replaced pedal pivot bracket and master cylinder
• Installed a w/s washing setup with JY Parts
• Installed two retractable Chevy underhood lights - one inside, one under the hood.
• Rattle-can repaint of exterior white

There are other odds and ends..but those are the highlights.

Yet to Come
So what’s left to do?  Here are the big projects on my to-do:

• Repaint the exterior and trailer Champagne Gold Metallic
• Install fuel injection
• Install Rancho 1” springs
• Install rebuilt transfer case
• Install rocker guards

At my pace, that’s probably another two years worth of work…
