Fool..err Fuel Injection Here We Come

One of the original goals for this whole CJ-5 to CJ-6 “supersize” was to get an engine that had fuel injection, for better all round driveability, cold weather starting, and off-road performance.

People have found ways to put fuel injection on the Buick “Dauntless” V6 that I had in Dutch, but it was either very expensive or somewhat homebrew.  I wanted a junkyard system for parts availability, hence the move to a Chevy 4.3 motor which had a very simple and reliable throttle-body fuel injection system from around ‘88-’92.

SSDutch came with the right motor, but with a 2-bbl carb swapped on to ease installation.  While I have plenty to do to get the Jeep road and trail-worthy, I’ve been kinda watching for the fuel injection parts to come along at a reasonable price.

Today that waiting paid off in a big way.  A fellow Jeeper from the EarlyCJ5.com forums recently decided to move to a TJ rather than finish the 4.3 swap into his ‘66 CJ5.

I was able to buy all the fuel injection parts - plus an aftermarket fuel pump and wiring harness - at a very “Dutch” price.  It’s nice to get lucky once in a while!
