Ex South African Army CJ6

More reader submissions - this one from Hendrik Wessels in South Africa, who describes this neat looking Jeep as “partly restored and totally original”.  More pictures…

Interesting the square corners on the rear.

Made under license from Willys by someone else I’m guessing?

Also the lack of the “patch” in the middle unless I’m just not seeing it.

Cool.  The rear fender is different.  Right hand drive is always interesting.

The Sa Army Jeep was acquired from an army surplus sale in 1968 - thus probably an early 60’s model. The identification plates under the bonnet read: Jeep Serial No: 8305 211085 AA, Kaiser Jeep Corporation Toledo Ohio, Jeep Assembled in SA, 05243, Jeep model CJ6 S.A. The rear loadbin was removed just behind the fuelcaps by the SA Army and replaced by their own design explaining the square corners, wheel arches and rear. The roll bar was built by myself and the tail lights are not original but look similar to the original lights. I have plenty more pictures if anyone is interested.
