Via Dan Stewart of the EarlyCJ5.com board, here’s a couple pictures of an early CJ6 setup for swamp buggy racing in Florida.
Dan describes the race:
The jeep class is the funnest i think (you think i am biased ) you are required to have a 4cyl jeep motor and drivetrain. It makes for a very fun race.
The course starts, and the first thing you hit is the ‘Sippee hole which is about 4 1/2 foot deep, then you get out and hit another about 50 yards. then you go around and make a right and come back to the first hole, go through, and go around the track and then once again hit the ‘Sippee hole and then the finish.
Intake are up to the roll cage and the exhaust is usually open and pointing up to the sky. Not very fast, but the funnest. I really want to make a jeep to race. I am not sure where they get the tires, they are extremely skinny and i think they are solid rubber discs.
