The ‘71 CJ-6 has stock running gear, Buick V-6 odd-fire engine, D-18 transfer box and the stock 3-spd trans (c/b a T90). Of note is an original stock step for the passenger and a custom “farm style” rear bumper that weighs as much as the rest of the jeep - it can’t be bent! (I admire iron weight). I checked out the frame and it looked good - not rusted out and I didn’t find any cracks. The frame was reinforced toward the rear with 3/8” plate at the same point on both sides, but I did not see any cracks so believe this was a preventative measure (they customarily ran jeeps for baling operations so knew what to do - I guess - maybe). The body doesn’t require much more than would result from a tough day in the rocks at Johnson Valley. The rear axle is a flanged D44 and the front looks like a D27. The jeep has a half cab attached - welded at one point and the full metal doors.
Price now at $1500, looks like quite a good deal. More Details and Pics >>
