Why I Don’t Like Podcasts

I haven’t posted much on Podcasting here on Boyink.com, I’m a bit embarassed to say it was only last week that I finally played around with it a bit.

And confirmed why it’s just not for me - at least as a consumer.

Why?  Because I can read faster than you can talk.  And I can’t skim your words.

Podcasting is a slower, more linear experience than reading on the web.  I know - not all podcasts are the online versions of talking head / talk radio / interview shows - in fact I found some pretty cool blues-related ones with mixed music and interviews.

But for consuming work-related information they’re just not for me.

Didn’t know you like blues… Gotta get The Roadhouse podcast. Gotta.

Podcasting is an entertainment medium, unlike blogging.

Guess we never talked music!

Oh yea…hows that blues harmonica thing going…

Dunno…maybe it’s just due to the blogs I subscribe to, but I’ve sure seen alot of “informational” type podcasts that I just can’t bring myself to listen to.  I just know I’d get distracted with something else anyway…

Agreed on those informational podcasts.

On my blues playing, I need to move from wannabe to poser. It ain’t easy for me.

Podcasts are great for when your NOT at your computer or connected to the Interent—on the commute, on the bus.

It is what I listen to when I can not read.
