pMachine Releases ExpressionEngine V1.4 and FREE Core

We are excited to announce the release of ExpressionEngine 1.4, as well as our new free version called the ExpressionEngine Core.

Version 1.4 is one of our biggest releases to date, delivering over 70 new features and enhancements, making ExpressionEngine one of the most compelling, feature-rich publishing systems in the world.

In addition, we are pleased to announce the release of our free ExpressionEngine Core Version.  The Core is available for personal use only and comes with ten add-on modules, making it a killer blogging and personal publishing system.

The folks over pMachine have released the much-anticipated 1.4 version of ExpressionEngine which has some great new features including entry versioning, relational capability between weblogs, extensions that allow for such things as WYSIWYG editors to be seamlessly integrated, and a host of other new features.

They’ve also released a free version of EE called the “Core”, in addition to dropping the price of the personal license by $50 (which should help with the “EE is too expensive” mindset that I’ve seen in the Blog/CMS market).

It should be interesting to see how the market reacts - especially given yesterday’s issues with Moveable Types “TypePad” hosted blogging service.
