To give a brief over view of the paper, it was written for people who have a basic understanding of Blogs. I looked at how Blogs have impacted business and communication, how some Blogs create revenue, how some companies are using Blogs, how Blogs greatly boost the spread of information, how Blogs add richness to the media landscape, how Blogs work in the Long Tail, how some companies are tracking the Blogosphere and what the future of Blogging may be. James Torio from New York has posted the paper from his Master’s Thesis.  It’s a 145 page, 4.5 MB paper based on research conducted with 175 bloggers.

The most interesting part for me was Chapter Seven, Lessons Learned.  In it James covers how a business can use a blog to strengthen their brand, but also points out how many business blogs fail because the company tries to use them as another way of sending one-way messages about how great their products are.

The key, according to James, is to use a business blog as a conversation with the goal of educating current and prospective customers while entertaining them.

Good stuff.
