Welcome
So - you’ve been searching for a flexible and affordable Content Managment System (CMS) and your search has led you to ExpressionEngine. You’ve browsed the forums, watched the tutorials, and looked through the wiki.
And yet, you’re still wondering—just how the heck do I build my site using EE? There are seemingly so many ways of doing everything that it’s hard to decide how to do anything.
Well, I’m glad you are here. After seeing a number of cries in the forums for a step by step tutorial in using EE I decided (on a whim that’s led to both a lot of work but also a lot of very nice comments and links) to start putting a tutorial series together that covered the building of a complete small-business-ish site in EE.
Who am I? Good question - if I were you I’d be asking it too.
My name is Michael Boyink, and I’ve been using products from EllisLab since 2002. I started with pMachinePro, and later made the switchover to ExpressionEngine. I’m a charter member of the EE Professionals Network, and have been responsible for or involved in 20+ and counting EE-based websites.
Some comments about the series so far:
At last! Many thanks for this. I have built two sites in EE now but when I come to do a third one I need to cut out the 50% of the time I took in the first two to understand how to build them! I look forward to your next installments. Simon Cox
I can’t tell you how perfectly timed this series is. Much, MUCH appreciated! Darren
These tutorials are wonderful, thanks for your hardwork and generosity. I just wanted to let you know that these posts are much appreciated and I can’t wait for the next one. Jonathan Powell
I have no set schedule or set table of contents for the series - I’m pretty much just making it up as I go.
Also note - you are actually viewing the site that is being built in the tutorials. For the tutorials themselves, please visit the Building an ExpressionEngine Site category page on Boyink.com.
